MESSAGE
FROM
THE PRESIDENT
I recall my
first Credit Union experience, or what we commonly refer
to as the CUe. For most people their introduction to Credit Unions
is either through their place of work or a family member. In my
case it was through my dad. It was in the 1960’s; I don’t
remember my exact age at the time, but it was common practice to
report your age in years and months in reply to, “How old
are you, young man?” I was impressionable to say the least.
My dad, as
a member of a labor union, would attend union meetings. The meetings
were typically held on a Saturday and, with wide-eyed anticipation,
my brother and I would tag along. It was not the thrill of attending
a labor union meeting that motivated us to forsake an afternoon
of playing with friends to hang with Dad. Those meetings, for the
most part, were a non-event but a necessary pittance of our time
for the experience that was to follow – a trip to the Credit
Union where my dad would get cash for an afternoon of fast-food
treats and ice cream sundaes. Aside from the cash for our excursion,
the Credit Union was a happy place to visit. The people there were
pleasant, greeted you with a smile, knew everyone by name and, at
the top of list, always complimented that my brother and I were
“such fine young men.” That Credit Union experience
set the stage for the father and son bonding that I will always
cherish.
So what is
the CUe? It is personal, unique, and special to each and
every member. It’s the comfort and ease of getting an auto
loan for your dream car, financing your first home, taking advantage
of the equity in your home to meet the unexpected challenges in
life, securing a personal loan for a well deserved vacation, or
simply accessing your cash for an afternoon outing. Our goal at
AFCU is to be here when you need us and to make sure that your CUe
is rewarding and memorable today and for years to come.
Fast-forward
to today and I’m happy to report that Credit Unions have seen
considerable change. Products and services, and delivery channels
continue to advance to meet the financial service needs of members.
But the industry foundation of “People Helping People”
and the AFCU member service standard of “doing business with
people that you know and trust” remain core values in making
the CUe at AFCU financially rewarding for you and your
family. We thank you for your business and appreciate the opportunity
to serve you.

REPORT
OF THE
SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE
The Federal
Credit Union Act requires the Supervisory Committee to make or cause
to be made a comprehensive annual audit of the books and affairs
of the Credit Union.
The Supervisory
Committee has retained a professional accounting firm, which specializes
in auditing Credit Unions, to conduct an independent audit of the
Credit Union’s financial statements. The audited financial
statements are available for review at the main office of the Credit
Union.
